View from Diavolezza towards Piz Palü. Both photos were taken in late summer! A much greater part of the steep rock walls have become ice free. Vadret Pers, in the lower part of the photos, major tributary glacier to Vadret da Morteratsch, has thinned considerably, even at an altitude of 2800 to 2900 m.a.s.l. This is most evident from the considerable enlargement of a rock outcrop at lower left (photos Joachim Wolff).
