Vadret da Morteratsch 2024Recession of Vadret da Morteratsch continues unabated. Since the beginning of measurements in 1878, the length change has now exceeded 3 km (GLAMOS (2024). Swiss Glacier Length Change, release 2024, Glacier Monitoring Switzerland, doi:10.18750/lengthchange.2024.r2024). In 2024, a network of smaller proglacial meltwater lakes and streams was present in front of the glacier tongue, as well as a large glacier portal and dry calving on the eastern side. |
