View over the glacier forefield from the path towards Boval hut (Swiss Alpine Club). The positions are not exactly identical but close enough for a reasonable comparison. During the time interval the tongue retreated by 441 metres. Bushes and trees colonized the terrain in front of it. Considerable slumping can be seen in the right lateral moraine (photos Joachim Wolff).
