Unusual eruptions

After the drop recorded in the activity during last few days, a new strong explosion happened in the crater area. At 15:45 local time a blast threw incandescent pyroclastic material in almost every direction, material which reached once again the vegetation growing on the volcano slopes, starting several fires. Up to now (16:15 local time) no injured people are reported; the explosion was clearly heard and observed from the village of Stromboli. Source: Nino Zerilli. According to the newspaper "Il Piccolo" some tourists were caught by the explosion in the crater area. Of them, 6 were slightly injured.
