Overview of the tongue of Vadret da Morteratsch from a slightly elevated position on the left side of the valley. From this location slumping in the Little Ice Age Moraine on the opposte side of the valley can be seen as well as newly exposed stagnant ice (brown patches). Note also the rapid growth of vegetation in the glacier forefield, in particular of alder, in the right foreground (photos J. Alean).
