Glaciar de Gabietous, Gabarnie-Massif, France, on 21. August 1992. Note clear distiction between the area with firn accumulation on the left and bare glacier ice. The glacier is on a north-facing slope, at an average altitude of approximately 2725 m.a.s.l.

Glaciar de Gabietous on 5. September 2012. Note the grey area in the uppermost part of the glacier caused by rock debris and dust from the rockwall above. Thinning of the ice is evident. The glacier's total surface area is approximately 7 ha.
