Bylot Island, Nunavut, Canadian Arctic
The photographs here were taken during an expedition from the University of Calgary, led by Professor Brian Moorman. The area of research was the snout and proglacial area of Glacier B26 (“Fountain Glacier”) and Glacier B28 (“Stagnation Glacier”). Brian’s group has studied the site for many years, and I (MJH) am most grateful for the opportunity to join his expedition for 3 weeks in July 2014. We also made brief visits to a third, unnamed glacier, and the inner part of the Bylot Island Icefield. Additionally, we obtained aerial views of the large outlet glaciers, Sermilik and Aktineq. The glacier photographs are supplemented by flora (and a little fauna), and activities of the field team.
