The great eruption of Mount St. Helens on 18. May 1980 is one of the best documented cataclysmic eruptions in historic times. Precursors, the main eruption and subsequent activity are well documented on the excellent website of the United States Geological Survey. The STROMBOLI ON-LINE team does not intend to duplicate this material but to complement it with their own. Special emphasis is given to the recolonization of the mountain by plant life, a virtual climb of the mountain and QTVR-panoramas.
