Triftgletscher and Triftsee 14. and 15. August 2007The following images show the situation at Triftgletscher im late summer 2007. The proglacial lake which had started to form in 2001 has now reached its maximum size. The active glacier tongue is no longer in contact with the water (see image no. 7 below; only a little stagnant ice remains close to the shoreline). A delta is forming where the meltwater stream enters the lake. A small ice-dammed lake near point 2419 metres elevation southwest of Trifthütte has disappeared following the glacier's recession. |
