Recession of Steigletscher. Almost the entire part of the snout visible in the 1987 photo has disapperaed except for some moraine covered ice on the far right. On the other hand the river delta has grown and is continually filling the glacial lake. Changes are also evident in the lateral moraine visible at the back: Some large rocks have fallen off whereas the vegetation cover has grown, particularly on the left.
