Libretto by Toni Morrison - The Michigan Opera Theater, the Cincinnati Opera and the Opera Company of Philadelphia commissioned Toni Morrison to write the opera 'Margaret Garner,' the story of a slavewoman. It is the first opera for both Morrison and composer Richard Danielpour. It premiered on May 7, 2005 at the Detroit Opera House in Detroit, Michigan.
