- Facts
- Donna Leon lived in Venice for over 30 years and since 2015 she began to reside between the homes she owns in Switzerland, one in Zurich and another in the mountains. As of 2016 she resides mainly in the small village of Val Müstair in the mountains of Grisons. In 2020 she became a Swiss citizen.
- Donna Leon's books have not been officially translated into Italian by her own choice. She has said multiple times that she deliberately chose not to allow Italian translations because she values her privacy in Venice, where she lived for many years. She didn’t want to become famous there or to have locals recognize her frequently. “I don’t want to be famous where I live,” she has said in interviews.
