Maddie's life is far from fulfilling. She is the primary caretaker for her father, who suffers from advanced-stage Parkinson's disease, while her mother spends most of her time in Ghana and her brother lives his own life elsewhere. At work, Maddie faces challenges as the only Black person in her office and deals with a difficult boss. When her mother returns to London, Maddie seizes the opportunity to move out and start living independently. She finds a flat share, begins to socialize more, and navigates the complexities of internet dating.
