Tongariro Crossing


	«	As Pam leads us on to the long descent, the view opens towards Lake Rotaira in the foreground and much larger Lake Taupo further back. The Taupo Volcanic Centre caused the biggest volcanic eruption anywhere in the world during the last five millenia. In 186 AD it erupted between 60 and 100 cubic kilometers of tephra, roughly 20 times more than Vesuvius in 79 AD.	»
