In Chaski Bay the exceptionally clear water of Crater Lake allows you to see the lake bottom. Here the water is less deep than in many other parts of the lake. This is because the caldera was partially filled in by a large landslide which apparently occurred soon after the caldera collapse and the central platform volcano erupted but before a deep lake was present. The view above is towards the slope from where the rock fell into the caldera.
